Ashley Maguire Named Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. – Sophomore runner Ashley Maguire (LaSalle, Ontario/Saint Thomas of Villanova) has been named this week's Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping the Bradley Women's Cross Country to a third-place finish at last week's Bradley Pink Classic.

Maguire helped the Braves to a third-place team finish in the 37-team field and Bradley was first among the nine Missouri Valley Conference teams competing as she placed 11th overall with a career-best 6K time of 2:16.5. Her time ranks as the sixth-best performance by a Brave at the Pink Classic. A biomedical science pre-med major, Maguire owns a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

The Bradley Cross Country teams are in action Friday in Champaign, Ill., at the Illini Open, before next week's MVC Championship (Oct. 29) in Normal, Ill.
