IOWA CITY, IA – Maria Bezmenova and Sandra Maletin will compete in the main draw at ITA Central Region Championships tomorrow afternoon after Bezmenova won two qualifying matches to join Maletin, who earned automatic entry.

The Braves played two full rounds of singles and doubles today, beginning at 8 a.m. and ending just shy of 8 p.m. at the Hawkeye Tennis Complex. 

The top end of the Bradley doubles rotation was superb in the opening round of the main draw. Kirstin Hailey/Maletin cruised to a 6-0 victory over fellow Missouri Valley Conference member UNI.

They ultimately fell to Kansas State, marking the end of Maletin's Bradley doubles career. The senior finishes in a tie for 6^th in program history with 54 doubles victories and is one half of the winningest doubles tandem in Bradley Tennis history – amassing 43 wins with Natalia Barbery. She has two MVC Doubles Team of the Week recognitions, putting her in a tie for second most in program history with Bozana Lojpur and one behind Malini Wijesinghe. Maletin will look to extend her career tomorrow in the singles main draw.
 
Madalena Andrade/Maria Bezmenova also had a smooth victory in their opener, winning 6-2 over the University of New Orleans. They were the last Bradley match of the day, dropping their second-round match to Kansas State.
 
Andrade, Bezmenova, Hailey, Lojpur and Perlwitz all cruised to straight set victories in the opening round of qualifying. Bezmenova capitalized on the opportunity to join Maletin in the main draw, breezing through another singles match, 6-2, 6-3 over Creighton.
