Game Recap: Volleyball |
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Seniors Hannah Thompson and Kora Kauling each turned in double-doubles to help Bradley Volleyball pick up its second Missouri Valley Conference road win of the season with a 25-21, 21-25, 25-20, 25-23 victory at Indiana State Saturday.

Thompson had 12 kills and a match-high 22 digs for her 69th career double-double as she tied the Bradley school record for double-doubles held by Samantha Hardwick and Jenny Pavlas.  In addition, Thompson notched her 1,200th career kill in the victory.

Kauling had her third double-double in the last four outings, collecting 10 kills and 29 assists as the duo helped the Braves (8-9 overall, 4-2 MVC) improve to 2-2 in conference road matches heading into a season-long, five-match home stand.

Bradley hit an impressive .342 in the first set and took the opener 25-21.  With the score knotted at 15-15, junior Karagan Coggin highlighted a 4-1 BU spurt with a kill and block to help put the Braves ahead 19-16.  Bradley eventually held set point at 24-20 after a Raeann Bergman and senior Rachel Pranger put the finishing touches on a 25-21 victory with her only kill of the night.

Indiana State (9-6 overall, 1-4 MVC) rebounded to take the second set 25-21.  The Sycamores took advantage of seven Bradley errors in the set and held off a late push by the Braves to even up the match.

Thompson highlighted a 25-20 third-set win for Bradley with five kills on just 10 attacks and also collected seven digs.  The Braves hit .324 in the stanza and led from wire-to-wire after jumping out to an early 5-1 lead.

The fourth set was close down the stretch after Bradley rallied from a 12-5 deficit to close out the match with a 25-23 victory.  A 7-1 BU run that included three kills by freshman Silan Demirkol pulled the Braves within one at 13-12.  Indiana State's lead was 22-21 when a Sycamore service error tied things up at 22-22.  The score was later knotted at 23-23 before Coggin gave Bradley match point with her eighth kill of the evening.  The Braves eighth ace of the night capped a 25-23 fourth-set victory with sophomore Maddie Peterson serving up her second ace of the contest to close things out.

Bradley opens a five-match home stand next Friday with a 6 p.m. contest against Valparaiso at Renaissance Coliseum.
