Karagan Coggin Named Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. – Junior right side/middle blocker Karagan Coggin (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett) has been named this week's Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping Bradley Volleyball move into second place in the Missouri Valley Conference standings with a pair of home wins last weekend.

Coggin hit a blistering .425 in wins over Indiana State and Evansville, averaging 2.57 kills and a team-best 1.00 blocks per set. She attacked at a .556 clip against Indiana State, notching 10 kills on 18 swings without an error in the sweep. Coggin also had a pair of blocks as she helped Bradley hold the Sycamores to their lowest attack percentage of the season. She matched a season-best with five block assists in Saturday's four-set win against Evansville, also collecting eight kills and hitting .318 as Bradley matched the longest single-season MVC win streak in program history with the sixth straight Valley victory. A middle school education (mathematics) major, Coggin owns a 3.60 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Coggin and the Braves return to action Friday, opening a three-match road swing to close out the 2021 regular-season schedule with a 6 p.m. match at league-leading Loyola.
