PEORIA, IL – Freshman guard Caroline Waite (Ames, IA/Ames HS) led four Braves, all newcomers, in double-figures with a game-high 24 points, but it was the Bradley bench that sparked the home team to an 83-53 win against NCAA Division II Upper Iowa Monday night at Renaissance Coliseum.

Junior forward Sierra Morrow scored 12 points, while freshman guard Nika Dorsey contributed 11 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a steal in her 20 minutes off the bench.  Freshman forward Abbie Draper added 10 points in reserve action to complete the double-digit scoring for Bradley (2-0), which has won its first two games of the season by an average of 24.5 points.

Jessica Musgrave led Upper Iowa, which played the game as an exhibition, with 16 points and seven rebounds.  Sophomore guard Lydia Haack, the younger sister of Bradley fifth-year senior guard Gabi Haack, won the family scoring battle with 13 points for the Peacocks.

While Gabi Haack finished with eight points, she set Bradley's career record for free throws made by sinking her 348th and 349th charity shots on the first possession of the game and her 3-pointer just 1:17 into the game gave the Braves a 5-2 lead that they would not relinquish.

With one record out of the way, there are more to soon follow for the elder Haack sister, who now needs just 18 points to become Bradley's all-time scoring leader and six 3-pointers to set the Missouri Valley Conference career mark.

Upper Iowa scored the first seven points of the third quarter to cut Bradley's 37-23 halftime lead down to just 37-30 with 7:05 left in the period.  Tete Danso sank two free throws and Waite drained consecutive 3-pointers for a 45-30 lead.  After a pair of Chloe Rice free throws, Dorsey followed with two old-fashioned 3-point plays in a span of just eight seconds to stretch the Bradley advantage to 58-36 with 2:03 left in the third.

The Peacocks would pull no closer than 17 points the rest of the way.

Shooting better than 50 percent from the field in each of its first two games, Bradley finished the night 31-of-60 (.517) from the floor, while limiting the Peacocks to 29.5 percent (18-61).  Although Upper Iowa finished with a 42-37 rebounding edge, Bradley outscored the visitors in the paint, 42-8.

Bradley face Big Ten Conference competition in two of its next three games, beginning with Friday's 6:30 p.m. visit from Wisconsin to complete the season-opening, 3-game home stand.  The Badgers will become just the third Big Ten team to visit Renaissance Coliseum since the arena opened in 2010.  Bradley will hit the road for games Nov. 22 at Northern Illinois and Nov. 26 at Minnesota.
