Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
PEORIA, IL – The Bradley men's basketball team earned its first victory of the 2021-22 season with a 92-66 win against Missouri S&T on Tuesday night.

Six Braves scored in double figures in the winning effort with senior Ja'Shon Henry leading the way with his first double-double of the season. The senior collected team-highs with 17 points and 10 rebounds after missing Saturday's game with an illness. Junior Ville Tahvanainen also appeared in his first game of the 2021-22 campaign after missing the first two contests with an injury – scoring 10 points after an early seven-point surge.

Junior Terry Roberts chipped in 15 points and six assists, while junior Malevy Leons added 13 points. Sophomores Jayson Kent and Rienk Mast also reached double figures with 10 points apiece, while Mast added 10 rebounds for his third-straight double-double.

Tahvanainen sparked the Braves (1-2) early in his return, scoring seven in the first three minutes of the game as Bradley built a 12-7 lead. The Miners used a quick spurt to pull in front by four, 19-15, but it was then Henry's turn to catch fire. The senior scored six points during a 15-2 run as Bradley took a nine-point lead, 30-21, and never looked back. An additional 13-2 run later in the half helped Bradley stretch its advantage as BU headed into the locker room with a 49-36 edge.

Bradley continued to pour it on in the second stanza, never letting the Miners within single digits en route to the 26-point victory.

The Braves shot 44.9 percent in the winning effort, while holding Missouri S&T to just 32.2 percent from the floor. Bradley also outrebounded the Miners, 58-28, on the night – winning the battle in the paint, 46-24, and in second-chance points, 27-10.

Bradley is back in action on Friday, squaring off with Colorado State in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The first round of the Paradise Jam is set for a noon CT tipoff.

Game Notes: Mast is the first Brave to collect a double-double in the season's first three games since Joe Allen in 1966-67 … Henry's double-double was the third of his career and his first since the 2019-20 campaign … Bradley +30 rebound margin is tied for the seventh-best in school history … Kent reached double figures for the third time this season after doing so twice in 23 games as a rookie … The Braves improved to a perfect 2-0 all-time against Missouri S&T.
