Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – The Bradley men's basketball team fell in the opening round of the Paradise Jam to Colorado State on Friday afternoon with the Rams earning a tight 66-60 victory. The Braves are now 1-3 on the season, while Colorado State remains unbeaten at 4-0.

Junior Terry Roberts led the Braves with a career-best 24 points – making 10-of-15 field goals with a 4-of-6 clip from 3-point range. Senior Ja'Shon Henry and junior Ville Tahvanainen also scored in double figures with 10 points apiece.

The Bradley defense was strong from the start as it held the nation's seventh-ranked scoring offense to just 21 first-half points. Henry then ignited a late 11-2 run – scoring the first six points of the spurt – as Bradley turned a 17-16 deficit into a late 27-19 advantage. Colorado State finally ended the run after a nearly nine-minute field goal drought as the teams headed into the locker room with BU ahead, 27-21.

The pace picked up in the second half as the schools played a close final 20 minutes. Bradley maintained its halftime advantage for the first eight minutes of the period before Colorado State made its move. With Bradley leading by five, 37-32, the Rams used an 11-2 stretch to pull in front by four, 43-39, with 12:09 remaining in the game. The Colorado State lead reached as many as eight points but Roberts kept Bradley alive and at one point scored 13-straight points for BU.

The Braves then made one final push and after trailing by seven, 59-52, with 3:50 left in the game, pulled to within two after Roberts's fourth made triple of the game and an 8-3 mini run for a 62-60 score with 53 seconds left. However, the Rams answered with a transition basket and then made two final free throws for the 66-60 final.

Bradley shot 39.1 percent from the field, while holding the Rams to 41.2 percent shooting (nearly 16 percentage points below their season average).

The Braves are back in action at the Paradise Jam tomorrow afternoon, squaring off against Brown for a 2:15 p.m. CT tipoff.

Game Notes: Colorado State entered the game averaging 96.0 points per game … Roberts reached double figures for the fourth-straight game to start his career – the longest streak by a Brave since JoJo McGlaston in 2016 … He is also the first Brave to eclipse 20 points in a game this season … The schools were meeting for the first time.
