PEORIA, Ill. – Fifth-year senior guard Gabi Haack (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) has been named this week's Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping Bradley Women's Basketball to a pair of home victories last week.
Haack, who broke Bradley's career scoring record in Friday's win against Wisconsin, averaged 16.0 points and 4.5 rebounds while making 6-of-11 three-pointers and 12-of-14 free throw attempts in wins against the Badgers and Upper Iowa. Scoring eight points in a blowout victory against Upper Iowa, Haack broke the Bradley career record for free throws made in the outing against the Peacocks. Haack followed that up by scoring a game-high 24 points as she topped the previous school scoring record of 1,679 set by Karen Anderson (1979-83) in the 64-57 victory over Wisconsin Friday. An elementary education major, Haack owns a 3.81 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Haack and the Braves return to action Friday, continuing a two-game road swing with a 3 p.m. contest at Minnesota.
