PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior outside hitter Hannah Thompson (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) earned College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America honors for the second straight year, taking home second-team recognition this fall after she was a third-team selection as a junior.

Thompson, who was the first CoSIDA Academic All-American in Bradley Volleyball history last season, is the 10th two-time Academic All-American in Bradley history and joins Kelly Amundrud (Women's Golf - 2011 & 2012) as the only female two-time Academic All-Americans at BU.  Bradley's last two-time Academic All-American was cross country/track runner Will Anderson in 2018 & 2019.

One of two individuals from the Missouri Valley Conference to be selected as Academic All-Americans in 2021, Thompson was joined by Valparaiso's Rylee Cookerly (First Team) as the pair became the 12th and 13th two-time Volleyball Academic All-Americans in MVC history.  The MVC has had just four two-time Academic All-Americans over the last 18 seasons after producing nine between 1984 and 2003.

The MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2021, Thompson was the only player in the nation in 2021 to collect 350 kills and at least 475 digs.  She averaged a team-best 2.96 kills per set to rank ninth in the MVC and her 3.87 digs-per-set average was eighth in the league.  Thompson, who broke the Bradley career digs record, closed the year 18th in MVC history with 1,902 career digs.

A three-time First-Team All-MVC pick, Thompson became just the third individual in MVC history to collect 1,300 career kills and 1,900 career digs and was the first player in the nation to reach both marks since 2003.  She ranks sixth in Bradley history with 1,377 career kills and owns the Bradley career record with 78 career double-doubles.

Majoring in health science, Thompson owns a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average and is a three-time First-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete.  In addition, she is a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree and was one of 30 national candidates for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award.

Thompson helped Bradley to 48 regular-season MVC victories over the last four seasons and a pair of National Invitational Volleyball Championship appearances.  The 48 league wins are the most in a four-year stretch in school history, surpassing the previous mark of 47 conference wins (1999-02) and the two post-season appearances were the first in program history, as she helped the Braves reach the second round in the tournament both times (2018 & 2021).

Bradley has boasted at least one CoSIDA Academic All-American each of the last eight years.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.0, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution and be nominated by their sports information director.
