Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Valparaiso, Ind. – Behind a season-best 13 3-pointers, the Bradley men's basketball team dominated Valparaiso on the road, earning a 76-52 victory on Wednesday night. The Braves improve to 11-11 with the victory and 5-8 in Missouri Valley Conference action, while the Crusaders dip to 7-13 and 4-7 versus league foes.

Sophomore Ville Tahvanainen tallied a team-best 14 points on the day as six Braves scored in double figures in the victory. The sophomore led Bradley from behind the arc with four triples, while also adding a career-best eight rebounds.

Junior Terry Nolan Jr. added 13 points with senior Elijah Childs and junior Ja'Shon Henry chipping in 11 points apiece. Junior Kevin McAdoo scored a season-best 10 points to go with five assists, while freshman Rienk Mast also scored in double figures with 10 points.

The Braves used strong starts to both periods to earn the victory on Wednesday. In the first half, Bradley used a 15-2 start to race to a 13-point advantage. Valparaiso fought back and took its only lead of the game, 21-20, with 10:48 remaining in the period. However, Nolan answered with a triple on Bradley's next possession to put the Braves back in front, 23-21. The 3-pointer ignited an 11-0 BU run as the Braves moved in front, 31-21, en route to an eventual seven-point lead at the break, 37-30.

The second half started a lot like the opening period as Bradley made its first five shots and outscored the Crusaders, 12-2, for a 17-point advantage, 49-32. Valparaiso was never within single digits the remainder of the game as Bradley earned its second-largest Valley win of the season.

Bradley made 45.2 percent of its field goals in the winning effort, with a 13-of-30 performance from beyond the arc. The Braves also held the Crusaders to just 35.2 percent shooting.

The Braves are back in action this weekend with a two-game series at Missouri State. The schools open on Saturday with a 5 p.m. tipoff.

Game Notes: Six Braves scored in double figures for the first time since Dec. 30, 2006 … Bradley's 13 made 3-pointers are two more than its previous season high … McAdoo tied his career high with five assists, first accomplished on March 11, 2019 … Mast has made 9-of-14 from 3-point range during the last three games (was 9-of-32 in the season's first 19 games) … Bradley's win was the first for the road team in the series as the home school is now 10-1 in regular-season meetings between BU and Valparaiso.
