Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
Springfield, Mo. – Missouri State defeated a short-handed Bradley men's basketball team on Saturday, 80-58. The Braves are now 11-12 on the season and 5-9 in Missouri Valley Conference action, while the Bears improve to 13-5 and 9-5 versus league foes.

Sophomore Ville Tahvanainen led Bradley with 13 points on the day, making 5-of-8 field goals. Freshman Darius Hannah also chipped in 10 points, while freshman Rienk Mast led BU with seven rebounds.

The Braves started the game strong and earned a 9-2 lead less than five minutes into the contest. Bradley forced Missouri State in to four early turnovers during the stretch with Mast leading BU with five points for the early advantage. However, it wasn't meant to be for the Braves as Missouri State answered with a 17-0 run to pull in front, 19-9. Bradley would be as close as six before Missouri State finished strong for a 44-24 halftime advantage.

Bradley fought during the second half of play as the Bears held a slight advantage, 36-34, in the second 20 minutes of action. The Braves got as close as 13 points, 50-37, before Missouri State pulled out the 80-58 win.

Missouri State shot 57.4 percent in the winning effort with a 14-of-23 mark from 3-point range. The Braves made 44.2 percent of their field goals, including 54.2 percent after the halftime break.

The schools are set to wrap up the two-game series tomorrow afternoon with a 3 p.m. tipoff at JQH Arena.

Game Notes: The loss snapped Bradley's three-game winning streak in the series as the Braves attempted to win four-straight against the Bears for the first time in series history … Bradley held the top scorer in the MVC, Isiaih Mosley, to just four points and five turnovers (was averaging 20.8 points per game) … Freshman walk-on Thomas Hall made his first career basket with a 3-pointer on Saturday … Bradley dressed only eight scholarship players as four Braves – Elijah Childs, Ja'Shon Henry, Danya Kingsby and Terry Nolan Jr. – were suspended for violations of program standards.
