Hannah Thompson Named MVC Player Of The Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- For the first time this season and second time in her career junior outside hitter Hannah Thompson (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week according to an announcement by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Thompson turned in her sixth and seventh double-doubles of the year, averaging 4.71 kills per set while hitting at .345 clip and also collected a team-best 5.29 digs per set to help Bradley sweep the series with Evansville. She also averaged 0.57 aces and 0.29 blocks per set in the victories.

The only player to rank in the top 10 in the MVC in both kills and digs per set this season, Thompson opened the weekend series with a season-best 18 kills also notched a match-high 23 digs in addition to her two aces and a solo block in a four-set win against the Aces Sunday, hitting .372 in the victory. She followed that by hitting .317 and collecting 15 kills, 14 digs, one block and two aces in a three-set win Monday.

Thompson broke into Bradley's career top 20 in kills, jumping three spots into 19th in Bradley history. She also posted her 50th and 51st career double-doubles as she helped Bradley extend its win streak to four straight matches along with pushing the team's win streak in the series with Evansville to seven.

The second player in Bradley Volleyball history with 800 career kills and 1,200 or more digs, Thompson ranks 16th nationally in digs per set (5.79) this season and is currently eighth in Bradley history with 1,240 career digs.

Thompson and the Braves return to action Sunday, opening a two-game home series against Southern Illinois with a 3 p.m. match at Renaissance Coliseum.
