The Braves (6-3 overall, 6-3 MVC) improved to 6-3 on the year and have won five consecutive Missouri Valley Conference matches for the first time since opening the 2005 league slate with a 6-0 mark.  Boasting a perfect 4-0 record at Renaissance Coliseum, Bradley extended its home win streak to six matches.

Thompson collected team highs of 17 kills and 17 digs for her eighth double-double of the year to highlight the victory that moved the Braves into second in the Valley standings.  Bergman added a career-best 14 kills and four blocks, while Coggin matched her season and career-high with 13 kills and also notched four blocks.  Junior Kora Kauling finished the day with 45 assists and 11 digs for her sixth double-double of the season for BU.

Southern Illinois (2-9 overall, 1-8 MVC) took the opening set behind six kills from Alex Washington and five kills by Hannah Becker.  Bradley trailed by as many as five points, but clawed back into it with a 3-0 run that included kills by Bergman, Coggin and junior Kat Poore to pull even at 19-19.  Washington and Becker answered with back-to-back kills to put SIU back in front and the Salukis would go on to take the opening set 25-20.

The Braves never trailed in the second set, hitting .308 in the frame.  Thompson had six second-set kills, while Bergman and Coggin combined for nine kills on just 15 swings with no errors in a 25-22 BU victory.  Bradley used a late 4-0 push to take control, getting a pair of kills from Coggin and one from Thompson during the run that gave the Braves a 22-17 advantage.  Coggin put a stop to a 3-0 SIU spurt with a kill out of a Bradley timeout and Bergman and Kauling combined for a block to give BU set point at 24-20.  Bergman's fifth kill of the set closed out the 25-22 Bradley win that even the match at one set each.

The third set featured 13 ties and seven lead changes, with Bradley making the final push.  With SIU leading 18-17, Coggin sparked a four-point Bradley outburst with a kill and teamed with Kauling for a block.  Freshman Madie Peterson served up an ace, before a kill from Poore gave the Braves a 21-18 edge.  Bradley eventually held set point at 24-19 on a Thompson kill and the all-conference performer later buried a free ball at the net to cap a 25-20 win for the Braves.

Bradley and SIU went back and forth early in the fourth set until Bradley seized control with a 6-1 run.  Southern Illinois held an 11-10 advantage when the Braves made their move.  A SIU service error was followed by a Bergman block to put BU in front 12-11.  Kauling found the floor with a kill before teaming with Bergman for a block as the Bradley lead moved to 14-11.  SIU got a kill from Tornatta Tatum, only to give it back with a service error and a Thompson kill gave the Braves a 16-12 advantage.  Another 5-1 BU spurt that included a Bergman kill along with four SIU errors gave Bradley a commanding 21-14 edge as the Braves went to take the set 25-15 to finish off the match.
