ST. LOUIS – Bradley junior lefthander Brooks Gosswein (Barrington, IL/Barrington HS) has been selected the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week, according to an announcement of the weekly baseball student-athlete awards by the league office Monday.

Gosswein led the Braves (1-2) to a 6-0 victory Saturday in the final game of their weekend series against #30 Ball State by blanking the Cardinals on two singles in his 7.0 innings of work.  Gosswein (1-0) needed only 86 pitches in his outing, which included just one walk and seven strikeouts, earning him the nation's No. 2 Game Score (79) among all pitchers in action Saturday, according to analytics posted by D1Baseball.com.

The veteran of Bradley's pitching staff, Gosswein is Bradley's active career leader in virtually every pitching category, now sporting an 8-8 career record with a 4.07 ERA in his 38 career outings, totaling 98 strikeouts in 121.2 IP.

The Braves will return to action this weekend by visiting New Orleans for a 3-game set at Maestri Field.  The facility is named for former Bradley Baseball student-athlete and multi-sport Braves assistant coach Ron Maestri, who went on to a hall-of-fame coaching and administrative career at UNO.
