ST. LOUIS – Junior utility player Taise Thompson (Oxnard, CA/Rio Mesa HS) has earned Preseason All-Missouri Valley Conference honors, according to a vote of the league's head coaches announced Tuesday in advance of the start of the 2021 conference season.

Thompson enters the 2021 league season having played in 114 games for the Braves as one of the team's top hitters, while also making 29 appearances in the circle as a relief pitcher.  She begins the week as a .287 career hitter with 12 home runs and 64 RBIs.  After batting .316 in 46 games as a sophomore in 2019, Thompson started hot in 2020 by batting .360 in 21 games.

In the circle, Thompson has started strong in 2021, leading the staff with a 2.17 ERA and .164 opponent batting average in seven appearances to date.  She has fanned 20 in her 19.1 innings pitched thus far in 2021.

Aided by Thompson's efforts, Bradley (7-6) will carry a 5-game winning streak in to its opening Valley series this weekend against Valparaiso (4-9) at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex.  The teams will play a pair of doubleheaders with the first three games in the series counting toward the league standings.  Saturday's twin bill is slated for a noon start at Petersen Hotels Field, with Sunday's doubleheader set for an 11 a.m. start.  All four games in the series will be broadcast on ESPN+ through The Valley on ESPN partnership.  Attendance for the weekend series against Valparaiso will be limited only to player pass lists for the two teams.
