Soccer Visits Valley Rival Evansville Monday

Bradley Soccer will complete its season series against league rival Evansville seeking a sweep of the regular-season series

EVANSVILLE, IN - Bradley Soccer will try to complete a regular-season sweep of Missouri Valley Conference rival Evansville when the teams meet Monday night at Arad McCutchan Stadium.  The Braves earned a 1-0 "home" victory against the Purple Aces March 4 when the teams played their first game of the season series at Eureka College.

Setting the Stage
•  Bradley Soccer will complete its regular-season series versus Missouri Valley Conference rival Evansville when the Braves visit Arad McCutchan Stadium Monday night.
• The Braves will be looking to snap a 3-match losing streak since earning a 1-0 victory against the Purple Aces March 4 in a home match played at Eureka College.
• Evansville is looking to snap an 18-match drought since its 1-0 win against UNC Asheville Sept. 14, 2019, as well as a 13-match Valley losing streak that dates to the start of the 2019 season.
• Both teams enter Monday's match coming off losses to #8 Missouri State, but while Bradley's result against the Bears was an overtime decision Thursday night at Shea Stadium, Evansville will have had a full week to prepare for Monday's home game against the Braves since its 2-1 loss March 14 in Springfield.

•  Played entirely as Missouri Valley Conference rivals, the series against the Purple Aces dates to Evansville's entry into The Valley for the 1994.
• After falling in the first four matchups against Evansville, Bradley is 20-7-2 (.724) in the last 29 series matchups and will be trying to extend its series winning streak to fi ve games Saturday night.
• In 2019, the Braves swept both regular-season meetings and a MVC Tournament matchup against Evansville, marking the first time in Bradley Soccer history the Braves swept three games against the same opponent in the same season.
• With wins against Evansville in the 2019 regular-season finale and the first round of the 2019 MVC Men's Soccer Championship, as well as the March 4 win in this season's first matchup, Bradley is now facing the Purple Aces for the fifth time in a span of just 16 games.
• In his 25th season as Bradley head coach, Jim DeRose boasts a 20-9-2 all-time record against Evansville with the 20 victories against the Purple Aces standing as the most against a single opponent in his career.
 
Wintermeyer's Evansville Streak
• Bradley has won four consecutive games against Evansville since the start of the 2019 season, outscoring the Purple Aces by a 6-1 count in those four games.
• Braves graduate forward Gerit Wintermeyer has scored all six Bradley goals in those four games.
• In fact, going back to Evansville's 4-3 win Nov. 3, 2018: Wintermeyer scored Bradley's last two goals in that matchup, meaning he has scored each of Bradley's last eight goals against the Purple Aces.
• His 14th-minute tally against the Purple Aces March 4 at Eureka stood as the game's lone goal and went in the books as his 10th career game-winning goal..

 
Looking Ahead
• Following Monday's visit to Evansville, Bradley will have a full week to prepare for its regular-season home finale, a March 30 return engagement against its in-state Valley rival Loyola Chicago.
• Next week's 6 p.m. game against the Ramblers could mark the fi nal home game for four Bradley seniors - Mikey Conneh, Bryce Logan, Saadiq Mohammed and Gerit Wintermeyer - although the NCAA has provided a blanket eligibility waiver for all fall sports student-athletes, based on the COVID-19 pandemic.
• The Braves will complete the 2020-21 regular season April 4 by visiƟ ng MVC rival Drake for an Easter Sunday matchup at Drake Stadium.
