Three Braves Earn MVC Scholar-Athlete Honors

Three members of the Bradley men's basketball program were honored for their work off the court on Thursday, earning selection to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team.

Senior Elijah Childs and juniors Ja'Shon Henry and Terry Nolan Jr. all received honorable mention to the academic team. Bradley's three selection are tied with Loyola for the most in the league this season, marking the third-straight season that Bradley has led the Valley in honorees.

Childs collected the accolade for the third-straight season. A sport communication major with a 3.31 grade point average, Childs leads Bradley with 14.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in 2020-21. The senior is also a three-time all-conference honoree, being named to the second team on Tuesday.

Henry joined Childs on the team for the second-straight season. The junior is third on BU with 10.9 points per game to go with 4.6 rebounds. A member of the league's All-Bench Team, Henry's 10.9 points are the most by a Bradley reserve since Aaron Zobrist averaged 13.0 points in 1994-95. Off the court, Henry owns a 3.35 GPA in family & consumer science retail merchandising.

Nolan is the third Brave to earn the academic accolade. In his first season on campus, Nolan is second on the team with 11.2 points per game and 35 made 3-pointers, while leading the Braves with 1.2 steals. He also maintains a 3.46 GPA in advertising and public relations.

The Braves now turn their attention toward the 2021 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament where the two-time defending champions open action later today against Southern Illinois at 5 p.m.
