ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Senior guard Gabi Haack has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year according to an announcement by the league office Tuesday morning.

The fourth two-time First-Team Valley Scholar-Athlete in program history, Haack joins Lora Weber (2001-02) as the only MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year selections in Bradley history.

Haack is fourth in Valley history in career three-pointers (272) and the MVC's active career scoring leader ranks fourth in Bradley history with 1,561 career points (29th nationally among active players).  She is also among Bradley's career top 10 in made free throws (3rd), rebounds (T8th), starts (T4th) and minutes played (2nd), while starting each of the last 105 games for the Braves.  The two-time First-Team All-MVC performer is third in the MVC in scoring (16.0 points per game) and fourth in rebounding (7.0 rpg), while leading the MVC in three-point field goals per game this season.

A NCAA Division I-AAA Scholar-Athlete as a junior, Haack was one of 30 national candidates for the Senior CLASS Award candidates this year.  The elementary education major owns a 3.79 cumulative grade point average and earned the MVC Good Neighbor Award last winter.  Haack has landed on the MVC Honor Roll three times along with earning a spot on the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll all seven semesters.

Currently 10th nationally among active players in career three-pointers, Haack became the first player in MVC history to make 60 or more three-pointers in four different seasons earlier this year.  She is one of two active players in the nation with 270 career three-pointers and 300 or more free throws.

The criteria for the scholar-athlete team balloting parallels the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) standards for the Academic All-America voting.  Nominees must be starters or important reserves, have played at least 75-percent of a team's games, and must carry at least a 3.30 GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Student-athletes must also have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution (true and redshirt freshmen are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at the institution.

Haack and the Braves face #4 seed Northern Iowa Friday in a 2 p.m. quarterfinal at the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in Moline, Il.
