Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Josh Schwam, Athletics Communications Student Assistant
PEORIA – Bradley Tennis continues to roll as the Braves swept Western Illinois 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon in their first outdoor match of the season, played at the David Markin Tennis Courts.

Bradley has swept their last two opponents, marking the first time they've swept back-to-back dual matches since February 21st, 2015 in a doubleheader against Western Illinois and Green Bay at The Clubs at River City. It is the 9th time in program history Bradley has swept back-to-back dual matches, and the second time under Head Coach Matt Tyler.

The day started off with some history, as the Number 1 doubles tandem of Natalia Barbery/Sandra Maletin won their 43rd match as a duo, the most in Bradley Tennis history.

They were the first doubles match complete against Western Illinois, aiding in Bradley's third straight doubles point victory. The previous record had stood since 1994.

The Braves' winning mentality carried over to singles, where Maletin was the first to finish with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win at Number 1. The victory improved her singles record to 6-1 on the season.

She was followed closely by Juliana Martinez as the freshman secured her first collegiate singles win by a score of 6-3, 6-0.

Victoria Sánchez-Bronzetti, Maria Bezmenova and Nina Marjanovic each secured straight set wins at Numbers 3, 4 and 5 singles, respectively. Each of them are on three-match singles winning streaks.

The Braves will rest up before another dual match on Friday at 3 P.M. against Eastern Illinois.

Due to Restore Illinois Phase 4 COVID mitigation protocols and Bradley Athletics policy, fans will not be permitted to attend Bradley's indoor competitions at the Clubs at River City and will not be permitted inside the gate for outdoor competitions at the David Markin Courts at this time.
