KETTERING, Ohio – Josh Kirkham finds himself two shots out of the top 10 in a tie for 23rd and Bradley Men's Golf is tied with Northern Kentucky for 11th in the team standings after Monday's opening-day action at the Flyer Intercollegiate.
Kirkham helped the Braves to a strong start with BU carding an 11-over 291 in the day's opening round at the par-70 NCR Country Club's North Course. The first-round 291 matched the second-lowest round of the year for Bradley, which was tied for sixth after the first 18 holes. The Braves shot a 305 in the afternoon to close Monday's action tied with Northern Kentucky for 11th at 596.
Bowling Green leads the field at three-under 557 with tournament-host Dayton second at one-under 599 and Wright State third at two-over 562. Bradley is 17 shots back of a tie for ninth between Youngstown State and DePaul at 579 heading into Tuesday's final round.
Kirkham fired the low round of his Bradley career to start the Flyer Intercollegiate, shooting an even-par 70. He carded a second-round 74 to close Monday's action at four-over 144 in a tie for 23rd, two shots outside of the top 10.
Senior Alex Ciaramitaro is 48th overall at eight-over 148, posting scores of 73 and 75 Monday. Brady Kreiter had the low round of his Bradley career with a first-round 73 and chased that with a six-over 76 in the second round to close the day at nine-over 149 in a tie for 49th.
Roy Radke followed up a first-round 75 with an 80 in the second round and is 60th overall at 155, while Jalen Hodges rounds out the team scoring for the Braves in 64th (159) after rounds of 77 and 82.
The final round of the Flyer Intercollegiate tees off Tuesday at 8 a.m.
