One of the nation's leaders in assists is heading to Bradley as graduate transfer Mikey Howell (San Marcos, Calif.) is set to join the Braves basketball program for the 2020-21 season.

In 16 games during the 2020-21 campaign at UC San Diego, Howell led the Big West Conference and ranked 12th nationally with 6.0 assists per game. The San Marcos, Calif., native finished his career as the Tritons' all-time leader in assists with 502 in 113 career games – averaging 4.4 in his four seasons on campus.

"We're excited to have Mikey join the Bradley program," said Bradley head coach Brian Wardle. "He is a very mature and experienced player with a high IQ and feel for the game. He is a pass-first point guard who has consistently made everybody around him better throughout his career."

A 6-foot-3 point guard, Howell earned second-team All-CCAA accolades during his junior campaign in 2019-20, helping the Tritons to a 30-1 record and a No. 4 Division II national ranking. Overall, he placed sixth in the country with 6.9 assists per game, setting the school's single-season record with 215 before the postseason was canceled.

During his career at UC San Diego, Howell scored 636 points to go with his 502 assists – shooting 45.9 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from 3-point range. He helped lead the Tritons to conference titles in each of his first three seasons with the program, while adding 298 rebounds and 134 steals during his tenure.

Howell joins a Bradley program that has won two of the last three Missouri Valley Conference Tournament titles. Howell is the second signee for the Braves as incoming freshman Connor Hickman signed an NLI in November.
