Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Josh Schwam, Athletics Communications Student Assistant
Valparaiso, Ind. – Backed by wins at five of the six singles positions, Bradley Tennis defeated Valparaiso 5-2 at the Valpo Tennis Complex to secure the number 3 seed at the upcoming Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Championship.

Bradley's victory secured its third straight winning season, the first time this mark has been achieved since 1991-93.

The win also marked Bradley's second consecutive season with a winning conference record in which Missouri Valley Conference matches were played. It is the first time in program history Bradley has had back-to-back winning seasons as a member of the MVC and the first time since 1991-92 the Braves have a winning record in conference play in back-to-back seasons.

The No. 2 Doubles tandem of Maria Bezmenova/Nina Marjanovic improved to 4-1 in their last five matches at the position and 5-2 as a pair. Valparaiso took the doubles point with wins at the other two positions.

The Braves shined in singles play, picking up wins at Nos. 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Natalia Barbery won the last regular season match of her career 2-6, 6-2, 10-5 at No. 5 Singles. Barbery's first set was the only set Bradley dropped in any of its five singles wins.

Nikki Perlwitz won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 6 Singles. With her results today, Perlwitz has won nine of her last eleven matches across both singles and doubles. Including today, Perlwitz has dropped a total of eight games in her last three singles wins.

Maria Bezmenova clinched the victory for Bradley with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4 Singles.

The Braves will be the number 4 seed at the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Championships, set to start this Thursday at the Cooper Tennis Complex, home of the Missouri State Bears. Information on coverage and specific match times will be released as it becomes available.
