The Bradley basketball team added an elite international guard to the roster on Monday, signing Maxime Ekono (Nanterre, France) to a National Letter of Intent.

"Max is a great fit for this 2021 class and our current roster," said Bradley head coach Brian Wardle. "He is a talented playmaking guard with a tremendous feel for the game and great size at 6-foot-7. A part of his game that I love is that he is physical and draws a lot of fouls."

A 6-foot-7 guard, Ekono spent the 2020-21 season at Scotland Campus. He helped lead the team to a No. 3 national ranking and GAC Conference Tournament Championship. Overall, Scotland finished the season with a 21-2 record and advanced to the Phenom Hoops National Tournament.

"Max is a special player," said Scotland Campus head coach Chris Chaney. "He has unreal court vision for his size as a point guard and has shown the necessary toughness to be an elite defender. His upside and potential is very high and going to a great coaching staff and program at Bradley makes it even better. Coach Wardle and staff did a fantastic job of recruiting him and we are very proud of Max."

Prior to his time at Scotland Campus, Ekono led the Nanterre U18 team to the 2020 Adidas Next Generation Tournament – an elite youth basketball tournament hosted by the Euroleague. In four games, Ekono tallied 10.0 points, 3.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. The guard also played two years for Nanterre in the French Jeep Elite U21 league during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 campaigns.

Ekono joins a Bradley program that has won two of the last three Missouri Valley Conference Tournament titles. He is the fourth student-athlete to sign with the Braves for the 2021-22 campaign – joining Connor Hickman (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South), Mikey Howell (San Marco, Calif./UC San Diego) and Terry Roberts (Amityville, N.Y./Florida SouthWestern State).
