PEORIA, IL – Jake Schoffstall scored his first career goal in the 33rd minute, but Bradley (2-6-2) allowed visiting Western Illinois (2-8-2) to find the equalizer in the 86th minute as the local rivals battled to a 1-1 draw Thursday night at Shea Stadium.

A freshman defender, Schoffstall netted his first goal on a corner kick play, emerging from a crowd to knock home the loose ball out of a scrum at the far post for a 1-0 Bradley lead at 32:04.

After Bradley outshot its visitor, 6-2, in the first half, Western Illinois continued to build momentum as the second half progressed.  The Leathernecks found the equalizer at 85:53.  Kyle Owen created a dangerous chance from the right flank, but when Bradley keeper Bryce Logan was only able to deflect the chance, Devan DiGrado directed the loose ball into the open net at the left post.

Both teams had great scoring chances in the 20 minutes of extra time, but neither team could get the winning shot on target.  Patrick Fishburne was primed to score the golden goal in the 93rd minute with a 1-v-1 chance versus the WIU keeper, but the charging Alex Flowers came up with a 1-handed deflection to turn the chance away.

Bradley finished the night with a 15-13 edge in shots, but Western Illinois held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal.  Logan made five saves on the night.

With the regular season complete, Bradley will return to action Tuesday night when the fourth-seeded Braves visit Missouri Valley Conference regular-season champion and eighth-ranked Missouri State in the semifinals of the MVC Men's Soccer Championship.  Tuesday's semi is slated for a 6 p.m. kickoff at MSU's Allison South Stadium and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
