The Bradley track and field teams prepare for one of their biggest meets of the regular season, competing at the Joe Walker Invite on the campus of Ole Miss this weekend.

MEET INFO
The action begins on Friday with running events starting at 6:30 p.m. On the schedule for the BU on the opening day includes the 200m dash, 5,000m run and 3,000m steeplechase in addition to the invite sections of the 800m and 1,500m. Kyra Koontz is also slated to compete in the long jump on the opening day with field events beginning at 3 p.m.

The meet concludes on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Braves set to finish competition in the 800m and 1,500m in addition to running the 400m, 100m hurdles and both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

A total of 26 schools are competing this weekend at Ole Miss, including nationally-ranked teams in Auburn, Iowa State, Kentucky, Notre Dame and Stephen F. Austin. The Braves will also be joined by Valley rival Illinois State in Mississippi.

LAST TIME OUT
The Braves sent a small group of runners to the Redbird Invite last weekend with the women's 4x100 relay highlighting the action, setting the school record for the second-straight weekend. In addition to helping BU set a new standard in the relay, Koontz also added top-10 times in school history in the 100m hurdles (fourth) and 100m dash (ninth).

LOOK OUT FOR TOP TIMES
While it's Bradley's third outdoor meet of the year, a number of Braves are competing for the first time this season at a distance they have scored at previous MVC Championships in individual events.

Highlighting the runners are four Braves that scored at the MVC Outdoor Championship when it was last held in 2019 – Alec Hartman and Scott Seymour in the 800m, Evan Mitchell in the 3,000m steeplechase and Alec Danner in the 5,000m run.

With last season's outdoor championship canceled, the Braves also feature a number of runners that have scored at the equivalent distance at indoor championships. Matt Aho (5,000m), Max Dieterich (1,500m) and Charlie Parrish (3,000m steeplechase) all scored for the BU men at this year's meet, while the women feature scorers from the last two indoor championships in Emma Ehrhardt (5,000m), Hannah Ivy (400m), Aisling Joyce (1,500m), Tiana LoStracco (800m), Sophia McDonnell (3,000m steeplechase), Julia Nielsen (800m), Wilma Nielsen (800m & 1,500m) and Tyler Schwartz (5,000m), who are running the equivalent distance this weekend.

UP NEXT
The Braves are set for the Gibson Invitational next Saturday on the campus on Indiana State.
