Braves Open MVC Outdoor Championship

The 10,000m run highlighted the opening day of the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship for Bradley on Friday night with four Braves scoring in the event.

Junior Matt Aho led a trio of Braves that scored in the men's event, earning all-conference honors for the first time in his career. Aho placed third overall with a time of 29:56.27 for the fifth-best mark in school history.

Aho just edged out teammate Alec Danner for the final spot on the podium as Danner finished fourth with a time of 29:57.60 – the sixth-best mark in the school's record book. Freshman Rodrigo Alvarez Gonzalez also scored for the Braves by placing sixth in 30:24.43, which now ranks 12th in BU history.

In the women's 10,000m run, junior Emma Ehrhardt placed seventh for the Braves – crossing the finish line in 37:07.60.

Four Braves also qualified for Sunday's final in the 1,500m on Friday. Zach Albrecht (3:50.78), Jack Crull (3:51.01) and Brayden Huddleston (3:53.52) advanced from the prelims for the BU men, while Amelia Lesher (4:39.94) qualified for the Bradley women.

After one day of the championship, the Bradley men sit in fifth place in the conference standings with 14 points, while the women are ninth with two points.

Day two of the MVC Championship is set to begin Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
