Altmayer and Parrish Earn Academic All-District Honors

Senior McKenzie Altmayer and junior Charlie Parrish of the Bradley cross country and track programs were honored for their work on the track and in the classroom on Thursday, collecting first-team Academic All-District accolades, presented by CoSIDA.

Altmayer was one of 12 women in District 5 to earn the award – which includes all Division I cross country and track & field student-athletes from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio – while Parrish was one of 15 men's student-athletes to be honored.

Bradley was the only school in the Missouri Valley Conference to feature two honorees.

Altmayer led the Bradley women on the cross country course during the 2020-21 campaign, placing sixth at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship to earn all-league honors for the third time during her career. On the track, Altmayer helped the Braves win the distance medley relay for the second time during her career.

Altmayer, who already earned her bachelor's degree at Bradley, is now currently pursuing her master's in English Creative Writing with a 4.00 grade point average. She earned Academic All-District honors for the second-straight year and was also honored with the MVC Elite 17 Award at the Valley's indoor championship in 2021 for owning the top GPA by an all-conference honoree.

Parrish led the Bradley men throughout the 2020-21 campaign, earning All-MVC accolades on three occasions. The junior finished seventh at the MVC Cross Country Championship as Bradley placed second overall as a team. On the track, he then added All-Valley accolades by finishing second in the 3,000m run at the indoor championship and third in the 3,000m steeplechase as the outdoor meet.

In the classroom, Parrish owns a 3.95 grade point average, while majoring in management and leadership. He joined Altmayer as an MVC Elite 17 recipient, earning the accolade at the MVC Outdoor Championship for posting the top GPA by an all-conference honoree.

The Academic All-America teams will be released on Thursday, August 12.
