LEXINGTON, Ky. -- For the 15th time in the last 17 years, Bradley Volleyball earned the United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, according to an announcement by the AVCA Monday.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average.

The Braves were one of nine Missouri Valley Conference teams to earn AVCA Team Academic Award honors and Bradley is one of just 12 teams nationally to earn the distinction at least 15 times over the last 17 years, joining American, Bowling Green, Central Connecticut, Eastern Michigan, Indiana State, Marist, Memphis, Southern Illinois, Toledo, Western Kentucky and Wichita State.

Bradley earned AVCA Team Academic Award honors for the fifth consecutive year during 2020-21 and ninth time in the last 10 seasons. The Braves boasted a 3.62 grade point average for the 2020-21 school year.  A total of 1,275 collegiate and high school programs earned the distinction.

Individually, 11 players earned a spot on the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll in at least one of the two semesters for registering a GPA of 3.30 or higher in 2020-21, including eight individuals earning the distinction in both semesters.  Senior Hannah Thompson was named the first CoSIDA Academic All-American in program history, earning third team honors.  In addition, the Braves boasted a pair of First-Team MVC Scholar-Athletes for the first time since 2005, with senior setter Kora Kauling joining Thompson.

The Braves posted a league-best 12 Missouri Valley Conference victories and finished fourth in the final league standings at 12-6 as Bradley finished in the top four of the Valley standings for a school-record third consecutive year.
