McKenzie Altmayer of the Bradley cross country and track teams continues to excel in competition and in the classroom and on Thursday, she was named to the Academic All-America Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Third Team, presented by CoSIDA.

A graduate student at Bradley, Altmayer is one of just 46 student-athletes in the country to receive the prestigious award. It also marks the seventh time in school history that a runner has received the honor with six of the recipients occurring in the last six years.

Altmayer led the Bradley women on the cross country course during the 2020-21 campaign, placing sixth at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship to earn all-league honors for the third time during her career. She also helped the Braves to their eighth-straight top-two finish at the conference championship, tying the Missouri Valley Conference record.

On the track, Altmayer helped the Braves win the distance medley relay for the second time during her career, while placing sixth in the 3,000m steeplechase at the MVC Outdoor Championship.

In the classroom, Altmayer owns a 4.00 grade point average as she pursues her master's degree. She also received the MVC Elite 17 Award during the 2020-21 cross country campaign for owning the top GPA by an all-conference performer.

Altmayer is the second Brave to receive Academic All-America accolades in 2020-21 – joining Hannah Thompson of volleyball. Bradley is one of just 14 schools in Division I to feature multiple Academic All-America honorees in each of the last seven years and just one of three schools from outside a Power 5 conference.
