PEORIA, IL – The Bradley soccer team earned a season-opening victory against Omaha on Thursday night, securing a 1-0 win at Shea Stadium thanks to a 71st-minute goal.

Freshman Jake Schoffstall netted the team's first tally of the 2021 season to earn all three points for the Braves. After an Omaha foul, sophomore Jack Douglas fired a shot off the crossbar from 35 yards out. Freshman Patrick Fishburne headed the ball back toward goal on the edge of the box and Schoffstall flicked it past the goalie and into the net for the 1-0 lead in the 71st minute of play.

The Bradley defense would take it from there to secure the clean sheet. After allowing a pair of shots on goal in the opening minutes of action, BU allowed only two in the final 85 minutes of play, including one in the second half, to preserve the 1-0 victory.

Senior Bryce Logan stopped all four shots he saw to earn the shutout in net.

Bradley looks to continue its winning start to the 2021 campaign with its first road contest of the season next Tuesday. The Braves travel to face Wright State with a 6 p.m. CT kickoff.
