Lojpur, Perlwitz Resume Individual Dominance on Day 1 of Cougar Invite

EDWARDSVILLE, IL – Bozana Lojpur and Nikki Perlwitz showed strong debuts to the 2021 fall campaign in defense of their Missouri Valley Conference individual championships to headline Bradley Tennis this afternoon at the Cougar Invite on the campus of SIUE.

The Braves began action at 1 p.m. against Eastern Illinois in singles, winning in Flights 2-5. Lojpur, Kirstin Hailey, Maria Bezmenova and Perlwitz cruised to straight set victories. Hailey's victory marked the first as a collegian. Madalena Andrade needed three sets to take her first victory as a Brave 3-6, 6-1, 10-8 in Flight 3.

After the host Cougars posted a clean sweep Bradley in a 3 p.m. slate of Flights 1-3 Doubles, Bradley found success against Western Illinois. Andrade/Hailey took a tough 7-5 win in Flight 1, while the senior tandem of Lojpur/Perlwitz cruised to a 6-0 win at Flight 2.

The Braves will wrap up action at the Cougar Invite tomorrow, facing off against SIUE in singles competition at 8 a.m. followed by doubles against EIU at 1 p.m. and Western Illionis at 2 p.m.
