PEORIA, Ill. – Senior outside hitter Hannah Thompson (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) has been named this week's Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after turning in three double-doubles for Bradley Volleyball at last week's South Dakota Classic.

Thompson averaged a team-high 4.20 kills per set, while hitting at a .295 clip in three matches at the South Dakota Classic and also averaged 3.40 digs per set in addition to collecting four aces.  Against defending Summit League champion South Dakota, Thompson had a team-best 12 kills and 11 digs, while hitting .243 in the three-set contest as she reached 1,500 career digs to become just the 10th player in MVC history with 1,000 career kills and 1,500 or more digs.  She had 14 kills, 12 digs and four aces in a four-set outing against Milwaukee Friday morning.  Thompson capped the week with a season-best 16 kills and 11 digs to help highlight a sweep of Central Arkansas as she attacked at a .438 clip, posting the highest hitting percentage for a Brave with 15 or more kills in a match in almost four years.  A health science major, Thompson owns a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Thompson and Bradley Volleyball return home this weekend to host the CEFCU Classic.  The Braves open tournament play Friday with a 12:30 p.m. match against North Dakota at Renaissance Coliseum.
