Nacos Paces Women’s Golf On Day One At Johnie Imes

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Senior Sarah Nacos fired her lowest round in over two years, carding a first-round 76 to pace Bradley Women's Golf on the opening day of action at the Johnie Imes Invitational Monday.

Nacos helped highlight the day for the Braves, who are 13^th in the field after one round of play at the par-72 Club at Old Hawthorne, with a four-over 76 that included an eagle on the par-5, 446-yard ninth hole. She finished the day two shots out of the top 20 in a tie for 25^th to lead Bradley. The 76 was the lowest round for Nacos since a career-best 75 at the Cardinal Classic back in September 2019.

As a team, the Braves turned in an opening-round 311 and are 13^th in the standings entering Tuesday's second round. Bradley holds a one-shot lead on 14^th-place UAB and is two shots back of 12^th-place South Dakota (309). Tournament-host Missouri leads the field after firing a four-under 284 with the Tigers owning a 13-shot advantage on second-place Mercer (297).

Fellow senior Megan Welch is just one shot behind Nacos in a tie for 35^th, posting a first-round 77. Freshman Kathryn McNease shot a 78 on the opening day and is tied for 42^nd, while fellow freshman Maria Perakis turned in an 80 and is tied for 55^th. Junior Mara Flaherty rounded out the team scoring for the Braves with an 83 on Monday and is tied for 71^st overall.

The second round of the Johnie Imes Invitational will tee off Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.
