Terre Haute, Ind. – The Bradley men's basketball team fell at Indiana State on Sunday afternoon, 76-71. The Braves are now 7-7 on the season with a 1-1 Missouri Valley record, while the Sycamores improve to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in league play.
 
Junior Terry Roberts led Bradley with 19 points and six assists, while also adding seven rebounds. Classmate Malevy Leons registered his first career double-double with 11 points and a personal-best 12 rebounds, while freshman Connor Hickman also scored in double figures with 10 points.
 
The schools played a tight game to start until trading runs before the break. Leading, 24-21, the Braves scored seven-straight points to move in front by double digits, 32-21. The Sycamores, however, answered with a 12-0 run to take a one-point lead, 33-32. The schools then traded baskets to finish the half with an Indiana State 3-pointer at the buzzer giving the hosts a 43-41 advantage at the break.
 
The second half was back-and-forth as the teams continued to trade runs. The Braves scored the first six points of the stanza and nine of the first 11 to grab a five-point edge, 50-45. Indiana State, though, would answer back with a 13-0 spurt for its largest lead of the game, 58-50. The Braves then responded with a 12-0 stretch of its own to move back in front by four, 62-58.
 
Indiana State, however, had one last run to seize the momentum. With the Braves ahead by three, 64-61, the Sycamores used a 10-2 stretch to take a 71-66 lead with just over two minutes remaining. Bradley pulled to within three, 71-68, with under a minute left in the game only for Indiana State to hit a 3-pointer on its next possession as the shot clock expired and with 12 seconds left to seal the victory.
 
Bradley shot 40.8 percent with a 9-of-28 mark from 3-point range. The Sycamores connected on 44.8 percent of their field goals, while making 15-of-35 from beyond the arc.
 
The Braves return to action on Wednesday, hosting Missouri State at 7 p.m.
