Ville Tahvanainen Named Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. – Junior guard Ville Tahvanainen (Helsinki, Finland/ Helsinki Basketball Academy) has been named this week's Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping Bradley Men's Basketball to a pair of Missouri Valley Conference victories.

Tahvanainen, who averaged 12.0 points per game while connecting on six-of-nine three-pointers in the two wins, collected 11 points and made three-of-five from beyond the arc in addition to tallying two assists and two rebounds in last week's 83-71 road win at Drake. He followed that up by making three-of-four three-pointers and scoring 13 points Saturday to help highlight a 70-62 home win over Southern Illinois. A graphic design major, Tahvanainen owns a 3.36 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Tahvanainen and the Braves return to action tonight, opening a stretch of three of four games on the road with a 6 p.m. contest at Valparaiso.
