Logan, UT - Utah State defeated Bradley 82-64 in non-confrence action. The Aggies improved to 2-0 on the year while Bradley dropped to 1-1.
First Half
Both teams struggled in the opening minutes of the contest with neither team eclipsing 10 points until the 12:26 mark in the first half. Utah State would find their largest scoring run of the game just a few minutes later on a 9-0 Aggie run at 7:52 mark. Bradley and Utah State also found themselves in foul trouble in the early going with 29 total fouls called between both teams leading to six Braves and six Aggies to end the half with 2 fouls. Only Utah State's Steven Ashworth finished the first half in double figures with 12 points to lead all scorers at the break. Bradley was led by Zek Montgomery, Duke Deen, and Ja'Shon Henry all scoring 6 points.
2nd Half
Bradley would begin the second half trailing by 13 and the never got any closer than that with the deficit fluctuating between 22-14 points for the duration of the half. Utah State's big three showed up again with Taylor Funk, Steven Ashworth, Dan Akin combining for 38 points and 19 rebounds. Zee Hamoda for the Aggies off the bench also chipped in a good performance with 15 points and 4 rebounds. Bradley finished with just two players in double figures in Montgomery and Deen with 12 points and 15 points respectively.
Battle down low
Bradley is a team that rarely gets beaten on the boards. However, the Aggies flexed their muscles down low recording 46 rebounds to Bradley's 31 and rejecting six shots. Utah States's forwards were able to establish themselves holding the Bradley forwards to a collective 23 points and 20 rebounds.
Bench Depth
While Bradley's depth was a big factor in their win over Wisconsin-Parkside, Utah State's bench had their way with the Braves second unit outsourcing the BU bench 54-18. Ville Tahvanainen and Ja'Shon Henry did the majority of the work with the second unit putting up 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Bradley will be back in action Nov. 15th at 7pm in Carver Arena as they open up their home portion of the 2022 Cancun Challenge against the Eastern Michigan Eagles. The game can be streamed on ESPN+ or on the radio with 1470 WMBD.
