Bradley Women's Basketball picked up a huge victory on the road against the 6-1 Eastern Illinois Panthers, improving their record to 3-5. The Braves took down the Panthers who are #24 in the Mid-Major Poll from College Insider. This is also Bradley's first win on the road since February 5th, 2021.
Bradley had four players scoring in double digits.
Caroline Waite and
Alex Rouse led the way for the Braves, with
Ruba Abo Hashesh,
Daija Powell and
Isis Fitch chipping in to power the team past the Panthers. Waite scored 23 points, almost matching her career-high, and Rouse put up 17 points to match her career-high, along with six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Abo Hashesh and Powell each contributed 10 points to the win, and Fitch pulled down a fourth
of the rebounds on her own with 10.
Another notable moment from tonight was the return of
Nika Dorsey, who hasn't played since January 22, 2022, after suffering an injury. Dorsey scored her first points of the season, prompting a massive cheer from her teammates.
After getting off to a hot start, Bradley never looked back. The Braves got off to an 11-2 lead, and Eastern Illinois didn't score until the 4:55 mark in the first quarter. The attack continued. Whenever the Panthers got close, Bradley would push harder to get their lead larger and it held through until the end. The Braves tied their season high for field goal percentage, shooting 50% from the floor and 42% from three. Bradley's defense held Eastern Illinois to 37% shooting from the field and 29% from three. A game riddled with fouls, both teams found themselves at the free throw line. Bradley also won the battle there, shooting 91% while the Panthers shot 82%.
