Connor O’Brien Earns Preseason All-Valley Honors

Junior first baseman Connor O'Brien of the Bradley baseball team was honored with All-Missouri Valley Conference Preseason Team honors, announced on Tuesday.

The junior returns to lead the Braves in 2022 after collecting first-team all-conference honors for the second time during his career last season. O'Brien, who is Bradley's first position player to repeat as a first-team All-MVC selection since 1988, led BU with a .366 batting average in 2021 – hitting four home runs to go with 26 RBI.

As a team, Bradley was selected fifth in the annual preseason poll by the league's head coaches. Dallas Baptist received all eight first-place votes and led the poll with 64 points, followed by Indiana State with 46 points. Illinois State (39), Southern Illinois (39), Bradley (34) and Missouri State (32) were slated tightly from third to sixth with Evansville (19) and Valparaiso (15) rounding out the poll.

The Braves are just over two weeks from the start of the 2022 campaign, opening at Incarnate Word on Friday, Feb. 18.
