PEORIA, Ill. – Redshirt freshman Peter Hansen (Superior, Wis./Duluth Marshall) has been named this week's Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping Bradley Baseball to a season-opening series win against Western Michigan.
Hansen hit .625 (5-for-8) in the three games with a double, four runs, three RBI and six walks as he finished the series with an .800 on base percentage. In an 11-8 win to start the season, Hansen was 4-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI. He followed that up by going 1-for-2 with a run and three walks in Sunday's 7-2 victory to secure the series victory. Western Michigan walked Hansen four times in the series finale. A sports communication major, Hansen owns a 3.29 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Hansen and the Braves return to action this weekend, opening play at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tenn., Friday with an 11 a.m. contest against Pitt.
