CHICAGO, Ill. – Bradley Track & Field became the first team since 2003 to sweep the men's and women's 5,000-meter titles at the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championship to highlight Sunday's action at the Track & Field Center at Gately Park.

Freshman Nicola Jansen led from wire-to-wire in the women's 5,000 meters, pulling away from the field midway through to claim the top spot at 16:31.32 as she became the first Brave to win the event dating back to Kristen Busch in 2016.  Sophomore Sophia McDonnell finished sixth overall at 16:52.52.

The Braves made it a clean sweep of the 5,000-meter titles with freshman Michael Rebello winning the men's 5K.  Rebello's personal-best time of 14:14.62 ranks fourth in school history as he edged out second-place finisher junior George Watson, who earned all-conference honors with his second-place finish at 14:16.19.  Bradley had three of the top four and five of the top eight in the field, claiming 26 of a possible 39 points in the event.

Bradley also took home All-Valley honors in the women's distance medley relay with the duo of freshman Alice Narciso and Amiyah Davis, combining with sophomores Julia Nielsen and Tiana LoStracco to take third.  The group finished just three seconds off topping the previous MVC Championship record, earning a spot on the podium with a time of 11:45.72.

A two-time MVC 800-meter champion, Nielsen moved on to the finals in the women's 800 meters and will be joined by LoStracco, who posted the top time in the prelims, in Monday's finals.  LoStracco crossed the line in a time of 2:15.50 in Sunday's prelims, while Nielsen also had the best time in her heat at 2:17.60 as she looks to defend her 2021 MVC Indoor 800 title.

Bradley also had two individuals reach the finals in the men's 800 meters with freshman Ivan Westcott and sophomore Zach Albrecht both earning spots.  Westcott's time of 1:53.83 was fourth in the prelims, while Albrecht's personal-best of 1:53.89 was good for fifth during Sunday's action and ranks seventh in school history.

Freshman Shae Fuller scored the first points of the meet for the Braves, finishing seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.40 meters.

In the women's mile, three Braves moved on to Monday's finals with sophomore Ashley Maguire and freshman Julia de La Piedra Sitjas each winning their heats.  Maguire clocked a personal best at 5:00.28, while de La Piedra Sitjas turned in a personal-best of 5:01.29.  In fact, Bradley had the top three times during Sunday's prelims, with Narciso finishing second in the first heat with a PR of 5:00.60 to also reach the finals.

On the men's side, sophomore Aidan Donohue's personal best mile time of 4:14.09 pushed him into Monday's finals.  Fellow sophomore Max Dieterich also earned a spot in the finals with his time of 4:16.29 eighth-best in the prelims.

Davis beat her own school record in the women's 400 meters.  Posting the second-best 400-time in the prelims, Davis moved on to the finals after turning a time of 56.28 seconds to top her previous mark of 56.40 seconds set last month.  Junior Hannah Ivy also advanced to the 400 finals after a personal-best 57.07 seconds.

Freshman Sidney Martin helped highlight the opening day of competition with a school record in the women's 60-meter dash.  Her time of 7.82 seconds in the prelims moved her into the semis and topped the previous school mark of 7.88 seconds set by Kyra Koontz last January.  Martin challenged her record in the semis later in the afternoon, posting a time of 7.83 seconds.

In the men's 60-meter hurdles, junior Miguel Agyei also turned in a school-record effort in the men's 60-meter hurdles.  He finished one spot out of reaching the finals with his time of 8.40 seconds beating his own school record of 8.46 seconds from earlier this season.

Sunday's action also included a school record in the women's 200 meters.  Sophomore T'ya Suber improved on Davis' previous school record of 25.39 seconds with a run of 25.10 seconds in the prelims.

The Bradley men sit in fourth with 26 points after one day of competition at the MVC Indoor Championship, while the women's team has 21 points and is fifth in the standings.

The MVC Indoor Track & Field Championship concludes Monday with action starting at 11:30 a.m.
