Rienk Mast Named Prairie Farms Athlete of the Month

Sophomore Rienk Mast of the men's basketball team is the Prairie Farms Bradley Athlete of the Month, earning the honor after a fan vote for the month of January.

Mast led the Braves with 16.9 points in nine January games, shooting 57.5 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from 3-point range. He scored in double figures in the final eight games of the month, including four contests of at least 20 points – scoring a season-best 23 on Jan. 12 against Evansville. The forward also added 8.3 rebounds during the month with three double-doubles.

Overall, Mast is second on the team with 11.7 points this season and leads BU with 15.5 points in Valley play. He also ranks first in the conference and 53rd nationally with 8.3 rebounds per game – the highest total by a Brave since 1989-90.

Mast earned the Bradley Athlete of the Month accolades after a fan vote on the school's twitter account. He collected 58 percent of the vote to beat out Tatum Koenig of the women's basketball team (23 percent) and Nicola Jansen of women's track and field (19 percent).
