ST. LOUIS – Pacing the Bradley women's basketball team with 22.5 points per game during its weekend split against Indiana State and Evansville, while earning the No. 10 spot on the ESPN SportsCenter Top Plays feature, freshman guard Caroline Waite (Ames, IA/Ames HS) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for the second time this season, according to an announcement from the league office Monday afternoon.

Shooting 50 percent from both the field (14-of-28) and 3-point range (8-of-16) during the two games, as well as 90 percent (9-10) from the free throw line, the 5-foot-4 Waite also averaged 3.5 rebounds in the two games at Renaissance Coliseum.  She came off the bench to score a team-high 23 points in 26 minutes Friday night against Indiana State, then followed with 22 points and a career-best six rebounds as a starter in Sunday's 77-67 win against Evansville.

Waite hit an impressive buzzer beater in both games this past week, sinking a 35-foot transition trey at the end of the first half Friday night against Indiana State.  The right-handed shooter then beat the shot clock horn with a left-handed heave from the left wing in front of the Bradley bench Sunday, earning her spot on the Sunday night and Monday morning episodes of SportsCenter.

Now with four 20-point efforts this season, Waite is the top scoring underclassman (freshman or sophomore) in The Valley this season at 12.6 points per game.  She also leads all Valley players and ranks second among the nation's freshmen by averaging 2.71 3-point field goals per game.

Waite was first named MVC Newcomer of the Week Nov. 12 after pumping in 24 points in her Bradley debut, an 84-64 win against Wright State Nov. 9 at Renaissance Coliseum.

Waite and the Braves will be on the road for a pair of games this week, visiting Valparaiso Thursday (6 p.m.) and Loyola Chicago Saturday (1 p.m.).
