Tennis Dominates Singles in Win over North Dakota

ORLANDO – FL, Bradley Women's Tennis improved to 2-1 over spring break as the Braves rattled off wins at the top five singles positions to claim a 5-2 victory over North Dakota Thursday morning at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando.
 
UND jumped to an early 2-0 lead by winning the doubles point and earning the win at No. 6 Singles on a walkover.
 
BU got its footing back in singles. Maria Bezmenova led wire-to-wire and closed out a 6-1, 7-6 (3) victory at No. 4 Singles.
 
After trailing 1-4 and 2-5 in the opening set, Kirstin Hailey found her groove and got back in the winner's column with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph at No. 2 Singles.
 
Bozana Lojpur went the distance for the second time in as many days, earning a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 1 Singles. She is now 3-0 on the trip and moved into sole possession of fifth place in program history with 62 career singles wins.
 
Madalena Andrade closed out the Bradley win with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 victory at No. 4 Singles. After the match had been decided, Nikki Perlwitz finished a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 win at No. 5 Singles. She is also 3-0 in singles play on the trip.
 
Bradley Tennis has a quick turnaround to Sunday afternoon for a home match against future Missouri Valley Conference foe Murray State. The match is expected to be played on campus at the David Markin Tennis Courts, weather permitting. Live coverage will be provided on BradleyBraves.com and on Twitter @BradleyUTennis. Match notes: Lojpur/Perlwitz are now up to 39 wins as a pair, still fourth in program history and quickly approaching third… Today was the first time this season Bradley Tennis won a match without winning at No. 1 Doubles… Bozana Lojpur has won three singles matches in a row and is the leading candidate for next weeks Missouri Valley Conference Singles Player of the Week. Her 62nd singles win is now fifth all-time in BU history… Perlwitz, with her three singles wins, is now into a three-way tie for 6th place in BU history with 59 for her career.
