Michael Rebello Named Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. – Michael Rebello (Excelsior Springs, Mo./Excelsior Springs) has been named this week's Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after he was named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Track Most Valuable Athlete at the 2022 Indoor Championship.

Rebello swept the men's 3,000 & 5,000-meter titles at the MVC Indoor Championship Sunday and Monday in Chicago. He claimed the top spot in the 5,000-meter field Sunday, posting the fifth-best time in school history in the event. Less than 24 hours later he returned to the track to take the spot on the podium in the 3,000 meters, breaking the MVC Indoor Championship record and clocking the second-best time in school history. A nutrition and dietetics major, Rebello owns a 3.26 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Rebello and the Bradley Track & Field team return to action March 24-26 in Raleigh, N.C., opening the 2022 Outdoor schedule at the Raleigh Relays.
