Braves Drop Spring Break Finale to Dartmouth, 5-4

Auburndale, Fla. – Dartmouth scored five runs in the first two innings and then held on to a 5-4 victory over the Bradley baseball team on Sunday morning in Florida. The Braves are now 5-11 during the 2022 campaign, while the Big Green improve to 4-8.
 
Sophomore Jackson Chatterton led BU with a 3-for-4 day – driving in two runs to go with a stolen base. Junior Connor Manthey also added a pair hits for Bradley, while scoring two runs.
 
The Braves opened the scoring in the first when Connor O'Brien hit his fourth home run of the season and his second in as many games for the 1-0 advantage. The Big Green, however, answered with three runs in its half of the first – taking advantage of two Bradley errors that resulted in two unearned runs. Dartmouth then extended its lead to 5-1 in the second inning, scoring via a sacrifice fly and a two-out single.
 
Bradley pulled one back in the fifth inning when Michael Mylott hit a sacrifice fly that scored Manthey. The Braves then added two runs in the sixth when Chatterton hit a two-out single for the 5-4 tally.
 
Dartmouth, however, retired the next eight batters before Chatterton hit a one-out single in the ninth. The Big Green would respond with a double play though to secure the one-run victory.
 
After playing seven games in a 10-day span in Florida, the Braves return to the Land of Lincoln to face Illinois on Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
