Braves Fall To #15 Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Senior Keeler van Breusegen hit her first homer of the year, but #15 Missouri answered with three home runs of its own as the Tigers topped Bradley Softball 10-1 Saturday to open the second day of play at the Mizzou Classic.
 
Missouri (14-4 overall) got a pair of runs in the bottom of the first, scoring a run on RBI singles from Kara Daly and Alex Honnold to take a 2-0 lead.
 
Bradley (8-8 overall) got on the scoreboard in the top of the third with van Breusegen ripping a leadoff homer to left center to cut the Mizzou lead in half at 2-1. 
 
Grace French retired Missouri in order in the second, third and fourth innings with the Tigers hanging on to a 2-1 lead heading to the fifth.  French led off the fourth with a triple, but the Braves were unable to get her home and a two-out walk by Addie Welsh in the fifth did not lead to run.
 
Missouri broke the game open with a four-run bottom of the fifth.  Riley Frizell led off the Tiger fifth with a solo homer and Missouri added another run on a bases loaded fielder's choice.  Daly made it a 6-1 Missouri lead with a two-out, two-run homer.
 
Another four-run frame in the bottom of the sixth gave Missouri the game 10-1.  The big hit of the inning came from Brooke Wilmes, who ended the contest with a two-run homer.
 
Missouri's Laurin Krings held Bradley to three hits and struck out 14 in the complete game victory.
 
Bradley continues play at the Mizzou Classic this afternoon with a 3 p.m. rematch with St. Thomas
