Taylor Catton Named Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. – Sophomore pitcher Taylor Catton (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) has been named this week's Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after picking up a save to help highlight Bradley Baseball's series victory against #16 Dallas Baptist.

In two outings against Dallas Baptist, Catton gave up just three hits and two runs, while striking out seven in a combined seven innings of work out of the bullpen. He picked up a save in Bradley's 10-4 series-opening victory, fanning six and giving up two hits in three shutout innings to close out the contest. In the series finale, Catton surrendered one hit in four innings out of the bullpen, giving up two runs. A middle school education (mathematics) major, Catton owns a 3.91 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Catton and the Braves open a three-game series at I-74 rival Illinois State Friday with a 5 p.m. contest.
