Pair of Records Fall During Day 2 at Drake Relays

Julia Nielsen clipped her sister's record in the 1,500m after the Braves took down a 10-year-old record in the 4x1,600m Relay

DES MOINES, IA – Bradley's participation Friday at the Drake Relays began and finished with a school-record performance. The Women's 4x1600m Relay got the record-setting efforts started and sophomore Julia Nielsen closed the day with a record run in the Women's 1,500m.

The quartet of Sophia McDonnell, Ashley Maguire, Tyler Schwartz and Nicola Jansen eclipsed the 10-year-old program record in the Women's 4x1,600m Relay, racing to a fourth-place finish among the event's 12 teams in a time of 19:44.26.

The Bradley Men's 4x1,600m Relay squad of Charlie Parrish, George Watson, Aidan Donohue and Matt Aho finished fifth among the 13 men's teams in the event in a time of 16:46.28, good for the second-best time in program history.

Julia Nielsen's run in the Women's 1,500m of 4:21.70 eclipsed the previous mark set by her sister, Wilma Nielsen, last season and is the second-best in the Missouri Valley Conference this season by just five-hundredths of a second. Julia Nielsen, Tiana LoStracco and Jansen own the second-, third- and fourth-best times, respectively, in The Valley to date this year.

Bradley will complete its three days of competition at the Drake Relays by running the Women's 4x400m Relay Saturday afternoon, while 17 Braves will compete in Saturday's Sycamore Open, hosted by Indiana State.
