Grace French Named Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. – Senior pitcher/utility Grace French (Benicia, Calif./Benicia) has been named this week's Bradley Busey Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after hitting .571 at the plate in addition to going 2-1 in the circle last week.

French, who was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week Tuesday, hit a team-best .571 in four games (8-for-14), slugging three doubles and one homer while helping Bradley to a 3-1 record. She drove in two and scored five runs in the four contests and stole a pair of bases, while boasting a .625 OBP and 1.000 slugging percentage. In addition, she was 2-1 with a 3.05 ERA in three appearances (18.1 innings pitched). The senior had three multi-hit games in Bradley's four road outings and reached base 11 times in her 16 plate appearances. A double major in kinesiology & health science, French owns a 3.84 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

French and the Braves close out a nine-game MVC road swing this weekend in Des Moines, Iowa, with a three-game series at Drake Saturday and Sunday.
