Tennis Sets Off for MVC Road Trip

WATERLOO, IA. – Bradley Women's Tennis will play back-to-back Missouri Valley Conference road matches this weekend as they head to Iowa for contests with UNI and Drake.

SERIES HISTORY vs. UNI | LAST MEETING
  • The Braves and Panthers have met 41 times on the tennis court, with the Panthers holding a slight edge at 21-20 in the all-time series.
  • BU has won six in a row against UNI including a 7-0 trouncing at The Clubs at River City last season.
SERIES HISTORY vs. DRAKE | LAST MEETING
  • BU has won two of its last three contests against Drake, marking both of Bradley's victories in the 28-match all-time series.
  • Drake downed Bradley at the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Team Championships on the way to its first team title in program history, 4-3, in Springfield, MO.
LAST WEEK
  • Bradley Tennis picked up its first Valley win of the season against the Missouri State Bears, 5-2 at Parkside Fitness.
  • First-time partners Madalena Andrade/Nina Marjanovic secured the doubles point with a win at the No. 1 spot, 7-5. 
  • The Braves picked up successive points at Nos. 6, 1 and 3 to clinch the win.
  • The match was broadcasted on The Valley on ESPN. It was the first and only match in the MVC this season to be broadcasted, as well as the fourth match and third occasion in BU history.
PERLWITZ IN CONTROL
  • Nikki Perlwitz has caught fire as of late, winning seven of her last nine singles matches.
  • She and Bozana Lojpur lead BU with the most singles victories this spring season, with eight.
RECORD BOOK MOVERS
  • Bozana Lojpur is two wins shy of entering the top five in career combined wins. She currently sits at 116 (63 singles, 53 doubles). Alexa Brandt has 118 in fifth
  • Nikki Perlwitz picked up her 61st career singles win against Missouri State. 
  • She is the seventh player in BU history to earn at least 60 career singles wins.
  • Perlwitz is two wins shy of tying for fifth place in BU history with 63 career singles wins.
  • In that fifth position with 63 career singles wins is Bozana Lojpur.
  • Teaming with Perlwitz, they have 40 career wins as a doubles tandem. That ranks them fourth in program history.
  • Madalena Andrade/Kirstin Hailey are one win shy of fifth place in BU history for most wins by a No. 1 Doubles pair in a single season.
AWARDS GALORE
  • Bradley's seven Valley weekly recognitions are second in the MVC this season.
  • Bradley Tennis has set a program record with four Doubles Team of the Week Awards this season.
  • Madalena Andrade/Kirstin Hailey have taken two Doubles Team of the Week awards for their efforts at the No. 1 spot, while Lojpur/Perlwitz earned two of their own at No. 2 and 3 Doubles.
  • Lojpur set a new program record with four career DTOTW honors for an individual.
  • Lojpur (No. 1) has taken two Singles Player of the Week honors and Maria Bezmenova (No. 4) has also earned one.
  • Bradley won MVC weekly awards in four consecutive weeks from February 8 – March 1, tied for the longest streak in BU history.
WINNING TRENDS
  • BU only has one win in which the No. 1 Doubles team of Andrade/Hailey does not win. 
  • No. 1 Doubles is 8-1 in Bradley victories and No. 3 Doubles is 7-1.
  • Missouri State and Murray State,Bradley is 9-9 in the doubles point and 7-2 in matches where they win the doubles point. Their losses are Southeast
  • The Braves have also only picked up one victory when the student-athlete patrolling No. 1 Singles is unable to win.
